Lucky Number
Hope you all are having a wonderful 4th of July. We are happy to have Dad home with us this year--all of us celebrating Freedom together.

I spent the better part of this week devouring the first three books in the Twilight Series. I can't remember where I saw these books talked about first but it was a while back the first time I saw them on somebody's blog. I have to admit, I felt a bit juvenile picking them up last week (especially b/c they are in the "young adult" section). But I kind of am juvenile a lot of the time, so, whatever. And I have to say that enjoyed them so much more than I thought I would. The fourth book is due out in August and I have already done my preorder on Amazon. I really hope the series ends well. It is crazy how invested one can become in characters in a fictional story but I know I will be pissed if the ending is terrible. Me and a million other teenage girls (and probably a few juvenile 20/30-somethings). Speaking of terrible, I saw a clip from Twilight the Movie and am so glad the final book comes out before the movie debuts. I am nervous that it is going to be bad...especially b/c Peter Facinelli is Carlisle...ugh. Edward and Bella have potential, though.
So, I know most of you are probably thinking that you could care less about vampire romances meant for teenagers but for those of you who like that sort of thing and have read the book(s) here is a link to the first chapter of Midnight Sun--supposedly the next project from Stephenie Meyers--the story from Edward's point of view.
I know I told y'all about Post Crossing a few posts ago but I wanted to update...I have sent out a few cards and recieved 3 back! One from Finland, one from Canada, and one from Japan. So, of course, I had to buy a cool little album for the cards I receive.
and the cards so far:
I haven't really put them in properly, but plan on tackling that soon. I want to scan the cards and add them to my flickr so that I can keep up with them and they are all documented.
How have you been?
Happy Father's Day everyone! June is speeding by at the speed of light and I almost forgot to post the July kit sneak peek! This one is soooo pretty and just making me giddy:
Keep in mind that this is just a tiny peek since I am still waiting on a couple of shipments but hopefully you get the idea.
The Mr. made it home Friday--just in time for us to celebrate Father's Day as a family. Hunter has been wrapped up in playing knights and castles, wrestling, kung fu, and watching 'man tv' with his daddy. It is pure bliss when those two are together. This morning H made his dad's card:
and I think there may be a trip to Bass Pro Shops in the cards for later today. :)
Wow, finally, it has cooled off a little around these parts! I can't believe how hot it has been...Ugh, I guess that is lame to start a blog post off with the weather, but really, it has been unbearable.
I have a million things to get done before Friday when the Mr. gets home. I always seem to overestimate my ability to finish projects when he is away for work. It doesn't matter how long he's gone I never get everything done that I intend to. One of my problems is that I have become much more interested in sewing lately and have picked up a few patterns while out thrifting. I found a little shift dress pattern from the 60's that is marked "simple" to make...I am hoping that means a simpleton like me can make it because it looks really cute on the front of that pattern envelope. I have a vintage cotton sheet that I think I'll use for the dress. See, this is what I mean. I have so many projects started right now but I am already thinking about making this dress. I am self-diagnosing: I have CADD which is ADD for crafters.
Here's a couple of shots of some recent thrifting finds:
I have done a couple of scrappy things, my favorite of which is this one:
I hate how the scan turned out so icky...there isn't that bend on the original. If you'd like to see the little flicky book in action you can see it here.
I have also been trying to run more so that I am ready for this. Thank goodness it isn't until August so maybe I'll be ready. M and I (and a whole bunch of other people) are running to raise money for the Naval Special Warfare Foundation. I am planning on doing a HUGE scrap stash raffle for all of the people who donate and 'sponsor' me. Actually, there will be two drawings for scrap stashes--one from me and one from my dear friend Michelle. So, stay tuned for more info as the weeks go by. The money raised goes to a very important cause. You can check out the link to read more about the Foundation and what they do for the families (like me and Hunter) of our Special Warfare guys.
Okay, I am off to try to finish at least one thing on my list tonight!
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for the great response to the June kit. It sold out pretty quickly and I am done shipping except for a couple of subscribers. If you are sad that you missed out on the main kit you have one more chance to snag it (and that rockin' vintage woodgrain dymo tape) because this month Story of My Life is sponsoring Scrap Mojo! I really love this site--SO. MUCH. INSPIRATION. These ladies are such talented artists and they always come up with such cool challenges. So, head on over there and check out the challenge--and thanks Marie, for the opportunity to support you guys!
